Backup

With these settings you can manage cloud backups through Google One on your phone. Google One is the cloud storage service that offers cloud storage with some additional features such as VPNs and tech support. For more about the Google One App, find Google One from our Google Pixel Apps page.

Note: It is highly recommended that you use some type of cloud storage for your information. The reason being is because if something happens to your phone such as loss, theft, or irreparable damage, all of your personal information will be lost such as your photos, videos, contacts, text messages, documents, important notes etc. You can learn more about the pros and cons of cloud storage in our article on Safety & Privacy Tips.

Account Storage

Under Account Storage you will see the Google Account that your backups are synced to, the amount of storage that is currently being used, and the amount of storage that you have available.

If you want to view a different Google Account, simply tap on Account Storage and choose an account to view or tap on Add Account if you would like to add another Google Account.

Manage Storage

When you tap on Manage Storage, you will be brought to a screen where you can manage your Google One membership from the Google One App.

Backup By Google One

When this switch is on, your information will be backed up using Google One. If you click on Back Up Now, you can instantly back up all of your current data. 

Note: You must be connected to a mobile network or Wi-Fi to back up your information.

Backup Details

Under Backup Details you can view how much storage is being taken up by each category of stored data on your phone such as:

  • Apps
  • Photos & Videos
  • SMS Messages
  • Call History
  • Device Settings
  • Google Account Data

Advanced Settings

Back Up Using Mobile Or Metered Wi-Fi Data

When this is on you can use a Metered Network to back up data.
