My Files

Samsungs My Files App organizes all of your files by categories to make your personal data and documents easy for you to find. You can also transfer files between different storage methods like internal storage, SD cards, cloud storage and more.

Note: Most of the newer Samsung models do not support the usage of external SD cards. This may seem a bit frustrating however it is much safer to keep your data stored on your internal storage or on a cloud service.

Recent Files

At the top of the My Files App screen you will see all of the most recent files you’ve interacted with.

Open Recent Files

If you tap on a recent file you will be given a few options to open the file with. The options to open the file will depend on what type of file it is i.e. photo, documents, video etc. To manage recent files, see the section below on managing storage.

Samsungs My Files App makes it easy to find your files by organizing your files automatically in to the following categories:

Underneath the categories section of the My Files App screen you will see all of the different storage options available and how much storage each storage method is currently using. The storage options may vary depending on what storage methods you have downloaded on your phone but you will typically see:

Analyze Storage

If you tap on Analyze Storage at the bottom of the My Files App screen you can view how much internal storage you’re using and how much each category of data is contributing. You can also view what items are in your trash from here and which files are taking up the most space.
