Date and Time

Automatic Date and Time

When this feature is turned on, your Samsung device will utilize your mobile network to determine the date and time. Which means your phones settings will change based on your current geographical location.

  • To turn this feature on go to Settings > General management > Date and time. 

  • Check that the option for Automatic date and time is turned on.

  • Make sure your phone is connected to a mobile network to ensure the date and time will be automatically set according to your phones network’s settings.

  • You can make sure you’re connected to a network by viewing your Mobile Network in the Connection Settings.

Note: If you don’t have the time set to automatic you could have issues with apps and websites if entered manually.

If you’re having trouble connecting to a network or if you simply prefer setting the time yourself, you can change the date and time manually. When you select a time zone that uses Daylight Savings (such as EST, PST, etc.), your phone will automatically change the time on the appropriate date, so you don’t have to worry.

Go to Settings > General management > Date and time. Be sure that the switch next to Automatic date and time is off. Once automatic date and time is turned off, options for manual Date and Time settings will appear.

You can change the following settings:

  • Select time zone

    Pick the region and time zone that you prefer.

  • Set date

    Select a date from the calendar, and then click Done.

  • Set time

    Change the time by swiping or typing, and then click Done.

If you like using military time you can simply switch 24-hour format on, and change it back to a standard clock whenever you like.

  • Go to Settings > General management > Date and time. 

  • Click the switch next to Use 24-hour format. 

  • Your phones clock will now appear in military time. It doesn’t matter if your phone’s time is set automatically or manually; you can still use the 24-hour format.
