Edit contacts on iPhone

In the contacts app you can edit a contacts photo, label, birthday, phone number, address, and more.

To edit a contact select a contact and click Edit.

Then you can:

Assign a photo to a contact

First select Add Photo Then you can take either a photo or add one from the Photos app.

Add a pronunciation

Click on Edit, then scroll down and select Add Field, then you will select a pronunciation name field and type in phonetically how to pronounce your contact’s name. Siri will now know how to pronounce your contacts name correctly.

Change a label

Click on the label, then select one in the list, or click on Add Custom Label to create one of your own.

Add a birthday, social profile, related name, and more

Click on the Green Plus Icon next to the category.

Allow calls or texts from a contact to override Do Not Disturb

Click on Ringtone or Text Tone, then turn on Emergency Bypass.

Add notes

To add notes click on the Notes field.

Add a prefix, phonetic name, and more

Click on Add Field, then select an item in the list.

Delete contact information

Click on the Red Circle with the minus sign next to a field.

When you’re finished, simply click Done.
