Smart Switch

Galaxy to Galaxy

Note: When using Smart Switch, transferring data with a cable is always faster but there are situations where you may need to use a wireless transfer instead. For example, if the phones are too low on battery and need to be plugged into a charger or the wire transfer isn’t working do to a damaged port in the phone or software issues. It is also recommended that Both phones are updated to the most recent software

Wire Transfer – Galaxy to Galaxy

Note: Your phones both must be at least 40% Charged to transfer data with a cable. If your transfer will take longer than 45 min to an hour you may want to use a wireless transfer or fully charge your phones

  1. Search apps for Smart Switch or go to Settings > Accounts and Backup > Bring Data From old device
  2. If this is your first time using Smart Switch you need to accept the terms and conditions. Open the app and click Continue then click Allow
  3. On the Old Phone click Send Data, and on the New Phone click Receive Data
  4. On the Old Phone click Cable and on the New Phone click Galaxy/Android then click Cable
  5. Then insert a USB-C to USB-C charging cable to both phones (If you only have a USB-C to USB-A cable you will need a USB-C adapter)
  6. On the Old Phone you will see a pop up that will ask you to allow access to data, click allow
  7. Your phone will then scan data to transfer, after scanning select data you want to transfer or click on Everything if you want to transfer all your data
  8. If you want to transfer your accounts click Copy on the old phone or Skip on the New Phone if you want to add accounts (Google and Samsung Accounts) later
  9. When your done click Go to the home screen on the New Phone and Close on the Old Phone

Wireless Transfer – Galaxy to Galaxy

  1. Search apps for Smart Switch or go to Settings > Accounts and Backup > Bring Data From old device

  3. On the Old Phone click Send Data, and on the New Phone click Receive Data
  4. On the Old Phone click Wireless and on the New Phone click Galaxy/Android then click Wireless
  5. On the Old Phone you will see a pop up that will ask you to allow access to data, click allow
  6. Your phone will then scan data to transfer, after scanning select data you want to transfer or click on Everything if you want to transfer all your data
  7. If you want to transfer your accounts click Copy on the old phone or Skip on the New Phone if you want to add accounts (Google and Samsung Accounts) later
  8. When your done click Go to the home screen on the New Phone and Close on the Old Phone

Wire Transfer – iPhone to Galaxy

Note: Your phones both must be at least 40% Charged to transfer data with a cable. If your transfer will take longer than 45 min to an hour you may want to use a wireless transfer or fully charge your phones

  1. On your Galaxy Phone search apps for Smart Switch or go to Settings > Accounts and Backup > Bring Data From old device or if you are just setting up your phone click on Copy to copy data
  2. On the iPhone you must download Smart Switch from the App Store
  3. If this is your first time using Smart Switch you need to accept the terms and conditions. Open the app and click Continue then click Allow
  4. On the Galaxy Phone click Receive Data
  5. On the Galaxy Phone click iPhone/iPad then click Cable
  6. Then insert a USB-C to Lightning charging cable to both phones (If you only have a USB-C to USB-A cable or a lightning to USB-A cable you will need a USB-C adapter)
  7. On the iPhone you will see a pop up that will ask you to Trust access to data, click Next on your Galaxy Phone
  8. Your phone will then scan data to transfer, after scanning select data you want to transfer
  9. Then click Transfer at the bottom of the screen on your Galaxy Phone and Select the apps you want to transfer. It may ask you to sign into your Google Account to transfer apps from the Play Store and click Install
  10. When your done click Go to the home screen on the New Phone and Close on the Old Phone

Wireless Transfer – iPhone to Galaxy

Note: Your phones both must be at least 20% Charged to transfer data wirelessly. If your transfer will take longer than 45 min to an hour you may want to charge your phones during the transfer or fully charge your phones

  1. On your Galaxy Phone search apps for Smart Switch or go to Settings > Accounts and Backup > Bring Data From old device or if you are just setting up your phone click on Copy to copy data
  2. On the iPhone you must download Smart Switch from the App Store
  3. If this is your first time using Smart Switch you need to accept the terms and conditions. Open the app and click Continue then click Allow
  4. On the Galaxy Phone click Receive Data
  5. On the Galaxy Phone click iPhone/iPad then at the bottom of the screen click Get Data From iCloud Instead and sign in with your Apple ID and Password
  6. On your Galaxy Phone you will be asked to enter a Verification Code. On your iPhone click Allow then enter the Verification code that is sent to your iPhone on your Galaxy Phone
  7. Your phone will then scan data to transfer, after scanning select data you want to transfer. In some cases your phone will only transfer the last 30 days of data for each category. Click on each category of data and click All to transfer everything
  8. When your data is done transferring from iCloud click Go to the home screen on the Galaxy Phone
