Hearing Devices

Pairing Your Hearing Devices with iPhone

  1. Open the battery doors on your MFi (Made for iPhone) hearing devices.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn on Bluetooth.
  3. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Hearing Devices.
  4. Close the battery doors on your hearing devices and wait for their names to appear under MFi Hearing Devices.
  5. Click on the names and respond to the pairing requests.
  6. When the pairing process is finished (indicated by a series of beeps and a tone), the devices will automatically reconnect to iPhone every time they are turned on.

Managing Settings and Status of Hearing Devices

  1. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Hearing Devices > MFi Hearing Devices to view the status and adjust settings of your hearing devices.
  2. You can also Use accessibility shortcuts on iPhone to control hearing devices, and enable control on the lock screen to check battery status, adjust ambient microphone volume, choose which hearing device to receive audio, control Live Listen, and more.
  3. If you pair your hearing devices with multiple devices (e.g. iPhone and iPad), changes made to the settings on one device will be automatically sent to the other devices. To ensure smooth switching between devices, Sign in with your Apple ID on all devices and connect them to the same Wi-Fi network.

Turning On Hearing Aid Compatibility

  1. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Hearing Devices and turn on Hearing Aid Compatibility to potentially reduce interference and improve audio quality with certain hearing aid models.
  2. Note that hearing aid compatibility ratings are not a guarantee of compatibility with a particular phone. It’s recommended to test the hearing aid and phone together before purchasing to ensure compatibility.

Streaming Audio to Hearing Devices

  1. You can stream audio from various sources such as Phone, Siri, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, and more.
  2. To stream audio, click on the AirDrop icon in Control Center, on the lock screen, or in the now playing controls of the app you’re listening to, and choose your hearing device.
  3. You can also set call audio and media audio to be routed to the hearing device.

  1. A person with hearing difficulties can pair their MFi hearing devices with their iPhone and adjust settings for better sound quality.
  2. A person with hearing devices can use accessibility shortcuts for quick access and control over their devices.
  3. A person with multiple devices (e.g. iPhone and iPad) can switch between devices seamlessly while maintaining the same settings for their hearing devices.
  4. A person can improve the audio quality with their hearing aids by turning on Hearing Aid Compatibility on their iPhone.
  5. A person can stream audio from various sources directly to their hearing devices for a better listening experience.
