Maps – iPhone

Maps will allow you view almost any location and zoom in and out of the location as needed. You can also use Maps for navigation, and enhance detailed views of roads, buildings, trees, and more.

You can also use Siri to get directions.

Note: You will need to have your location on to use most of the map features accurately.

How to use Maps

Search for a Location

To find a location you can search a few different ways. 

• Open the Maps app and simply type in the address you are looking for.
• You can also type the name of a specific destination i.e. “Grand Canyon.”
• You can also type the name of a place that may have multiple locations i.e. “McDonalds.”
• You can type in a zip code i.e. “123456.”
• Or you can type in a city/area i.e. “San Diego.”

Once you find a location that you’re interested in, click on the location and scroll up to see information about the location or business. You can see reviews, location, phone number, websites, hours and more.

You can also find your way around an airport or shopping mall by searching for the location and zooming in on maps.

Change Map

You can choose between different types of maps and views of maps. To do this:

• Open the Maps app and select the Map Icon towards the top right of the screen.
• From here you can choose between Explore, Driving, Transit, and Satellite views of the map depending on what you’re looking for.
• If you are exploring a map and want to go back to your current location, click on the Arrow beneath the maps icon.
• To change between 3D and 2D view, select either option directly below the arrow icon.
• To see an exact picture of a location, select the Binoculars Icon in the bottom left corner of the map.

Favorites

Beneath the map once you open the Maps app, you can view and add favorite locations that you frequent such as work, home, favorite restaurant, friends house, etc.

Recents

Beneath Favorites you can view all of your recent locations that you navigated to and you can select one from the list if you would like directions to get there again.

Guides

From the guides section, search different categories of events or places in your area that you may be interested in. Or select a location that you will visit soon or may want to visit to see what’s going on in that area.

Mark Location

You can mark a location on Maps by long pressing a location to drop a pin or you can also mark your exact location by scrolling to the bottom of the Maps app screen and clicking on Mark My Location. Once you drop a pin you can:

• Find directions to the pin by clicking on the Drive, Walk, Transit, Cycle, or Ride Share Icons.
• Move the pin by selecting Move.
• Click on More (…) and add the pinned location to Guides, Favorites, or Maps.
• You can also share your pin with the share icon to the Right of where it says Dropped Pin.

Share Location

If you want to share your location:

• Scroll to the bottom of the Maps app screen and click on Share My Location.
• Then select a recent contact that you want to share your location with or send your location through a specific app right underneath your recent contacts such as Messages, Instagram, Facebook, Email etc.
