Samsung Set Up

Before we start the set up process on your new Samsung device make sure your phone is charged and make sure your old phone is charged to if you intend to transfer information. Then press and hold the power button on the side of the phone to turn it on and we can get started.

You’ll also want to insert your SIM card into the phone. Depending on who your Wireless Carrier is you may be able to simply take your SIM card out of your old phone and place it in the new phone. If you don’t have your old phone or SIM card you may need to get a new SIM card from your Wireless Carrier or call them to activate and ESIM (electronic SIM).

If you put in a SIM card after turning on your phone then you will be prompted to restart your phone and start the set up process again. If you have went through the set up process already before placing your SIM in the phone you won’t have to go through the set up process again your phone will just restart.

Welcome!

Language

Right above the blue start button you will see a language drop down so you can choose your new phones system language. Once you select a language, tap on the Start button to continue to the next screen.

You can also tap on Accessibility beneath the Start button if you will need accessibility help to set up your new phone.

For Your Review

On this screen you will be prompted to agree to the Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, and you can also agree to send diagnostic data which is optional. If you do agree to send diagnostic data I recommend that you read more information on it first.

Once you’ve agreed to these terms you can then tap on Agree at the bottom right corner of the screen to move forward with the set up process.

Permission For Samsung Apps And Services

On this page you can allow or turn off permissions for Samsung apps on your phone. If you later choose to turn off certain permissions for apps you can always do that at a different time in the Privacy Settings.

You can then tap Agree at the bottom right corner of the screen to continue.

Choose A Wi-Fi Network

Select a Wi-Fi network to connect to. Choose the Wi-Fi you would like to connect to, then type in the password and tap on Connect.

Checking For Updates

Your phone will then check for any updates. This could take a few minutes so just be patient.

Copy Apps And Data

If you want to copy apps and data from your old phone you can do that using Samsung Smart Switch. For more information on how to do this click on the link.

If you don’t have another phone or you don’t want to copy your data just tap on Don’t Copy and continue through the set up process.

Google Sign In

For this part you’ll want to sign into your Gmail account with your email and password. If you don’t have one you’ll want to make a gmail account. You can use the phone without signing into a gmail but it is highly recommended that you sign in so you can download apps and keep your phone backed up among other features.

Once you sign in click Next in the bottom right corner. You can also click on Skip if you don’t have a gmail account yet or you forgot your password. It’s not vital for the set up process right now but it is more convenient for you if you sign in now rather than later.

Google Services

On this page you can choose to Allow or Deny Google services such as Location, Scanning, Send Usage And Diagnostic Data. These are all optional so you can choose to deny them. Some of these features can make using the phone more convenient but you can also later pick and choose which apps you allow to utilize these services.

Once you select which Google Services you’d like tap on Accept in the bottom right corner.

Protect Your Phone

On this screen you can choose to set up a passcode for your phone and facial recognition and/or fingerprint scanning. If you want to continue setting up your phone first and come back to this later in your settings you have that option.

Note: It is highly recommended that you set up a password, passcode, or pattern and fingerprints at some point.

Getting Your Phone Ready

This could take a few minutes just be patient while this screen loads.

Samsung Account

Similarly to your gmail account it is recommended that you create or log into your Samsung account so you can utilize all the features your Samsun device has to offer. You can also Skip this portion for now and set it up later but it’s much more convenient to do it now.

You’re All Set Up!

At this point you’re all done setting up your phone. If you’re transferring data with Smart Switch then everything will still be transferring and organizing in the background of your phone so just let that process continue and you’re all good!
