• Click on the Home or Rooms tab, then click on the accessory button. If you want to turn an accessory on or off quickly or you can click and hold the button until controls appear.

The controls that are available depend on the type of accessory you’re using. For example, with some lights there are options to control the colors of the light. Also if you have a smart TV, you can toggle between input sources.

When you’re home with your iPhone, you can see the relevant scenes and accessories for that moment in Control Center. For example, a coffee maker may appear in the morning and be replaced by your bedside lamp at night.

Open Control Center, then click on a button to turn an accessory on or off, or touch and hold the button until controls appear.

If you want to see your favorite scenes and accessories, click on the home icon.

If you don’t want accessories to appear in Control Center

• Navigate to Settings > Control Center, then turn off Show Home Controls.

If you want to customize your accessory settings, click on and hold the accessory’s button, then swipe up or tap the gear icon, then you’ll be given the following options:

Rename an accessory

Click on the (X) if you want to delete the old name of your accessory, then input a new name.

Change an accessory’s icon

If you want to change an accessory’s icon, click on the icon next to the name, then choose a new icon. If you’re not seeing a choice to change the icon, it means the icon can’t be changed.

If you want to control more than one accessory you can group them together. To do this:

• Click on and hold an accessory button > swipe up on the screen or click on the gear icon > Group with Other Accessories.
• Then click on the accessory you want to group with the previously chosen accessory.
• Then choose a name for the group by going to the Group Name field and type a name for the group.
• When you’re finished hit Done.
• You can also include the group in your favorites if you want it to appear on your home screen.

The Home app will also notify you of issues that might may want to be aware of like if you left a light on or your door is unlocked. Conveniently you can fix this through your Home app.

• Navigate to the Home app then click on Home.
• Then click on any of the round buttons below your home’s name in the app.
• From here, click on and hold the button that you’ve designated as a group of accessories in your home. Lets say that five lights were left on in two different rooms and you can control the accessories in each room separately. If this happens, you can turn off the three lights in the kitchen but leave the bedroom lights on. Clicking on one button in the group controls all of those accessories in the group you’ve created.

With some lights you have the ability to customize the color temperature, from cool blue to warm yellow. If you wanna get fancy you can set the lights (not all lights have this feature) to automatically change the color temperature throughout the day. If you want the lights in your room for example, to be warmer when you go to sleep and wake up but you want brighter and more vibrant colors throughout the day, you can customize these settings with adaptive lighting. To do this:

• Click on and hold a lighting accessory in the home app that is compatible with Adaptive Lighting.

• Then click on the adaptive lighting button (the colorful upside down light bulb).
