Digital Wellbeing

When you set up goals for screen time usage you can monitor your daily activity and set limits for usage. This comes in handy, for example, if you think you’re on social media too often and you want to limit your time without going ghost.

  • Go to Settings > Digital Wellbeing and parental controls > Digital Wellbeing.

  • Click on Screen time underneath Your goals then Set goal. Select how many hours and minutes you want for your screen time goal then click Done.
Note: On some devices, you may need to select your time first, and then click Set.

  • Once your schedule is made, you can click through each day to see your usage. You’ll be able to view the hours and minutes you’ve spent on your device that day.

  • If you want to change or delete the goal Click Screen time > More options (the three vertical dots), and then select an option.

Digital Wellbeing is a way to track and limit your digital habits as needed to create healthier habits. You can see your overall usage, the time you’ve spent (or wasted) for each app on a daily basis, the amount of notifications you’ve received, and how often you’ve unlocked and locked your phone. You can also set a timer for each app to limit and manage the amount of time spent.

  • Go to Settings > Digital Wellbeing and parental controls > Digital Wellbeing.

  • Click on App timers underneath Your goals. Then click on the hourglass next to the app you want to set a timer for.

  • After you’ve selected how much time you want to spend on the app click Done.

Focus mode is great if you want to minimize distractions while you’re working, studying, or any other activity where you need to maintain focus.

To open and customize Focus Mode click on Settings > Digital Wellbeing and parental controls > Digital Wellbeing. Focus mode will have three options which are:

  • Work time:

    • If you are at work or working on a project and you would like to minimize distractions and notifications, you can turn on Work Time. Click on Edit to add apps that you want to use or notify you. After you do this click Done. Then you can click Start to use Focus mode. Then you can click on End Focus mode when you’re done working.
  • Me Time:

    • Me time allows you to block specific app notifications if you need a break from those distractions. Click on Edit to add the apps you want to block, then click Done. Click the Start button to activate Me Time, then End Focus mode when you’ve had enough Me Time.
  • Add:

    • This setting lets you customize your own Focus Mode. For starters, choose the name of your new focus mode and hit Save. Then click on Edit to add apps and click Done. Click on Start to begin, then hit End Focus mode when you’re done. You can save this customized focus if you’d like to use it again in the future. If you want to rename or delete your new focus mode or an old one, click on the focus mode from the Digital Wellbeing setting where you made the focus mode, then click on More options (the three dots).

Note: You can only have one custom focus mode at a time.

Note: Bedtime mode will be named Wind Down on some Samsung devices and software versions.

Staring at at bright screen before you go to sleep can have a negative effect on how well you rest. Bedtime mode will change the screen to be less bright. This will help with keeping your mind calm before bed.

  • Click on Bedtime mode or Wind Down. You may be prompted to click Start. Then turn on the switch next to Turn on as scheduled.

  • Then choose which days you want to use Bedtime mode (i.e. Monday – Friday).

  • Then click Set schedule, choose your time then hit Done or OK.
