Safari – Settings for Websites

Share Across Devices

This just allows for the same website settings on all of your devices that are signed in with your Apple ID i.e. iPads, iPhones, Computers, etc.

Page Zoom

This is a great setting if you need to make websites/pages larger while you’re browsing. You can also make it smaller if you’d like. You can decrease or increase the page zoom anywhere from 50% to 300%.

Request Desktop Websites

When you view a website from a computer vs. a cell phone, you may not have access to all website features if you are accessing the website from your mobile device. Turning this on will request a desktop view of a website on your iPhone as if you were accessing the websites from a computer.

Reader

Reader is a feature that basically strips away some or all of a websites advertisements, navigational design, and basic images in a clean and uncluttered format. This may be useful if you frequently read news articles that have advertisements and irrelevant images in between paragraphs or on the side of the page.

Camera

From this setting you can choose to have your iPhone Ask, Allow, or Deny the use of your Camera on websites. In some situations you may need to allow access to your Camera so it is best to have your iPhone Ask if you want to allow access just incase or choose Deny all together and go into settings to turn on Ask when you need it. It is recommended you never choose the Allow option because it is possible for a website to gain access to your Camera and you have no idea that it’s on.

Microphone

From this setting you can choose to have your iPhone Ask, Allow, or Deny the use of your Microphone on websites. In some situations you may need to allow access to your Microphone so it is best to have your iPhone Ask if you want to allow access just incase or choose Deny all together and go into settings to turn on Ask when you need it. It is recommended you never choose the Allow option because it is possible for a website to gain access to your Microphone and you have no idea that it’s on.

Location

From this setting you can choose to have your iPhone Ask, Allow, or Deny the use of your Location on websites. In some situations you may need to allow access to your Location so it is best to have your iPhone Ask if you want to allow access just incase or choose Deny all together and go into settings to turn on Ask when you need it. It is recommended you never choose the Allow option because it is possible for a website to gain access to your Location and you have no idea that they have it.

Reading List

If there is something that you like to read frequently it may be useful to keep this setting on so you can access your reading material if you have no access to the internet.
