Google Calendar

Even if you’ve never used Googles Calendar before you probably already have it if you have a Gmail Account. If you don’t have a Gmail account you’ll need to create one first and then sign into your Google Account on your Pixel. If you don’t know where to go to do this click here

The Google Calendar App is fairly straight forward but I’ll explain some of the features here.

Search

If you want to search for a specific event or day, tap on the Search Icon in the top right part of the Calendar app screen and input what you’re searching for.

Current Day

If you’ve scrolled too far in your Calendar and want to go back to the current calendar day, tap on the calendar icon in the top right corner of the screen in between the Search Icon and your Google Account.

Google Calendar Menu

To see your Google Calendar Menu options, tap on the Hamburger Icon (the three horizontal lines) at the top left corner of the app screen. From here you will see the following options:

Calendar View

To choose a specific calendar day from any of the calendar views, tap on the month at the top left hand corner of the screen next to the Hamburger Icon once you’ve selected a view and select a day/week/month you want to view.

Once you open the menu, the top section of the menu will give you the following options to view your calendar:

  • Schedule
    • The Schedule view will list all your calendar appointments and holidays in order sectioned by week and it will show each appointment and event you have scheduled in order for each day.
  • Day
    • The Day view will show you each time slot in a 24 hour period for the day you select.
  • 3 Days
    • The 3 Day calendar view will be similar to the day view but will show each time slot you have events planned for or are open for the next 3 consecutive days.
  • Week
    • This view will show the next 7 day layout and each time slot for each day from Sunday to Saturday.
  • Month
    • This view will show the whole calendar for the month you select.

Refresh

You can select to refresh your calendar if you’ve made changes.

Choose Which Events To Show

Underneath Refresh you will see your Google Account email with a list of types of events. If you want to view or find specific events in your calendar, check off the following box(s) so you can view or hide these events on your Calendar:

  • Events
  • Tasks
  • Reminders
  • Birthdays
  • Holidays

Create A New Event, Reminder, Task

To create a new event on your calendar, tap on the Plus Icon (+) in the floating bubble in the bottom right area of the Calendar App screen. You will then see three options for different types of Calendar entries:

Reminder

  • To create a Reminder, tap on Reminder and enter a title for your reminder.
  • Then choose the timeframe for the reminder. You can turn on the switch next to All-Day if it’s going to be an all day thing, or you can turn this off and select a date and time for your reminder.
  • Then choose an option for how often you want the reminder to repeat. You can choose:
    • Does Not Repeat
    • Every Day
    • Every Week
    • Every Month
    • Every Year
    • Custom
  • When you’re finished, tap on Save in the top right corner.

Creating a Task is almost identical to the process for creating a reminder except you can add details to the task.

    • Does Not Repeat
    • Every Day
    • Every Week
    • Every Month

  • When you’re finished, tap on Save in the top right corner.

Event

Creating an event is a little more in depth than a task or reminder.

  • To create an Event, tap on Event and enter a title for your event.
  • Then choose the timeframe for the event. You can turn on the switch next to All-Day if it’s going to be an all day thing, or you can turn this off and select a date and time for your event to start and end whether the event will last a few hours or much longer like a few days to a week.
  • Then choose the timezone if applicable.
  • Then choose an option for how often you want the reminder to repeat. You can choose:
    • Does Not Repeat

  • You can also Add People if there are going to be other people involved and/or you would like to share the event.
  • You can also Add Video Conferencing if it’s going to include a meeting online.
  • Add a location for the Event.
  • Then add a notification reminder prior to the event if necessary.
  • Add a color to the event to help you organize it on your Calendar.
  • Add a description.
  • And you can also add an attachment.
  • When you’re finished, tap on Save in the top right corner.
