Camera – Samsung

Click on the link here for information on your Camera App Settings.

Note: Some of these features may differ or may not be available depending on the model of the Samsung device you own.

To take a photo, open the Camera app and select one of the following camera options right above the white circular button (this button takes the photo):

Single Take

Single take will capture multiple photos at once. Your cameras AI (Artificial Intelligence) will decide which angles to take a picture of so all of your photos will come out bright and crispy looking. The Camera will give you a variety of both videos and still shots and apply filtered effects to each one. To use the Single Take feature:

  • After you open your Camera app and select Single Take select the icon in the top right corner to choose what types of photos and videos you want your camera to put together for you.
  • After you’ve chosen one or more of the options below, simply press the white circular camera button and press it again after you have captured what you want to capture.
  • Then go to your gallery and see what single take has put together for you.
  • You can choose:

Highlight Videos

When you take a video with Single Take, your phone will automatically create a highlight reel of the best moments within that video as a series of pictures and video. Play around with this option to see what your phone comes up with.

Slow-Mo Clips

Single take will create Slow motion clips that are up to roughly 32 times slower than the original video.

Boomerang Clips

Boomerang videos are quick videos that essentially play and rewind the video (back and forth like a boomerang).

Rewind Clips

Rewind clips are videos that will play backwards (rewind).

24hr Time-Lapse Clips

A Time-Lapse video is a long video that is sped up so you can see an event that takes a long time very quickly. It allows for the capturing of a slow process. For example, if you left your phone for 24 hours to record the sun going up and going down, it would be a pretty boring video to watch from start to finish but with the time lapse feature you would see that 24 hour video in a matter of seconds.

Filtered Pictures

Single Take will filter pictures to make them look brighter, darker, more defined and more crisp.

Collages

Single Take will create a Collage from moments within the video you take.

Portraits

Portraits will blur out the background of a photo to emphasize the person or object in the center of the photo.

Cropped Shots

Single Take will crop photos accordingly to cut out what it thinks doesn’t contribute to the quality of the photo.

Photo

To take a photo, click on the white circle at the bottom then view the photo in your gallery. If you want to apply certain features to the photo, there are several options to choose from at the top of your camera app screen.

Flash

The flash icon is the lighting bolt icon at the top of the screen. You can turn the flash on or off from here or put the flash on automatic and your phone will determine based on the lighting whether or not the flash will be included in the photo.

Timer

To the right of the flash icon you will see the timer icon. You can choose between no timer, 2 seconds, 5 seconds, or 10 seconds. The timer is useful for when you want to take a family photo but you don’t want anyone to be left out. Simply set the timer and get everyone ready.

Camera Lens/Screen Size

To the right of the timer icon you will see (3:4) if this is on the default setting. You can choose between (3:4 64 mp), (3:4), (9:16), (1:1), and (Full). This will alter the camera lens size.

Note: The (3:4 64mp) option is only available for the camera on the back of the phone, not the front camera.

Motion Photo

A Motion photo is just a short video lets be honest. It reminds me of a Harry Potter newspaper.

Note: This option is not available when you are using the (3:4 64mp) camera lens option.

Filters

At the top right corner of the screen is where you can put a filter on a photo before you take it. Click on the Icon and choose a filter you like.

Video

To Take a video, select the video option above the camera button then to take a video simply click on the camera button to start recording the video then click it again to stop the video from recording. You also will have the following options when taking a video:

Flash

The flash icon is the lighting bolt icon at the top of the screen. You can turn the flash on or off from here or put the flash on automatic and your phone will determine based on the lighting whether or not the flash will be included in the video.

Note: The Flash option will not be available for the front camera with videos.

Super Steady

At the top of the camera screen after selecting video, you will see a hand icon with squiggly lines around it. This will help with the steadiness of the videos.

Note: This option will not be available when taking a video with the front camera.

Camera Lens/Screen Size

At the top of the Camera app screen after selecting the video option, you will see options to change the size of the lens to capture more or less of the space in a video. You can choose between (9:16), (1:1), And (Full).

Resolution

At the top of the camera app screen after you select the video option, you can change the resolution of the video with a variety of settings from 30HD to 8K depending on the model of your phone.

Note: The higher the video quality, the more storage space taken up on your phone. The lower the video quality, the less storage space taken up on your phone.

Filters

At the top right corner of the screen is where you can put a filter on a video before you take it. Click on the Icon and choose a filter you like.

More Camera Options

When you scroll to the right where it says single take, photo, video and More, You will see a variety of other advanced photo and video options. The following options include:

Pro Mode/Pro Video

Pro mode is an advanced camera feature that will give you more control to manually change your camera settings. You will have the ability to manually adjust camera settings like ISO, shutter speed, exposure, filters, focus and white balance. Once the settings are changed you will be able to see a preview of the photo so you can get the shot your looking for.

Panorama Mode

The Panorama option combines multiple images together, creating a photo with a huge field of view. Galaxy models that have the ultra wide cameras will be able to capture better Panorama photos. To use this feature, start the camera as if you’re taking a video and slowly move from left to right to get a connected photo in about 180 degrees.

Food Mode

Food mode will automatically adjust the colors of food in the frame of the photo to make your food look more delicious and vibrant.

Night Mode

Night mode will allow you to take incredible photos when you’re in a low light environment. You will be able to get a crystal clear shot at night or you’re in a room with a dim light. Night mode will recognize the level of light wherever you are and will automatically adjust the exposure and white balance of the photo. Ideally you want to keep your phone as steady as possible for the best results.

Portrait Mode/Portrait Video

Portrait mode will emphasize the main image in the center of the photo and blur out everything around it. This is great when you’re taking a photo of someone.

Super Slow-Mo Mode

Super Slow-Mo will take videos capturing about 960 frames per second (fps), which is approximately four times faster (or slower) than the regular slow motion feature. When played back at the average video speed of 30 fps, your Super Slow-mo video will appear 32 times slower than it did in real life.

You can either select the option to capture Super Slow-mo video manually or you can have your camera trigger Super Slo-Mo automatically when something moves in your cameras line of sight.

Slow Motion Mode

Slow Motion will capture videos about 8 times slower than a normal video.

HyperLapse Mode

HyperLapse will allow you to create your own TimeLapse video that converts longer footage in to smaller pieces.

Directors View

With Director’s View you can choose different angles and control your shots by changing the cameras as if you were making a movie. You can also view each of your camera’s scenes through thumbnails and change the scenes by tapping the thumbnails while recording a video.
