Sound Recognition

Using Sound Recognition on iPhone

Your iPhone has a built-in feature that allows it to listen for certain sounds, such as a crying baby, doorbell, or siren, and send you a notification when it recognizes these sounds. However, it’s important to note that this feature should not be relied upon in high-risk or emergency situations, or for navigation.

Setting up Sound Recognition: To use Sound Recognition, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Sound Recognition.
  2. Turn on Sound Recognition.
  3. Click on “Sounds” to select the specific sounds you want your iPhone to recognize.

Use Cases:

  • Parents can use Sound Recognition to monitor their baby’s cries while doing household chores or sleeping.
  • Users can rely on Sound Recognition to be notified when someone is at the door if they have difficulty hearing the doorbell.
  • People with hearing difficulties can use Sound Recognition to be notified when emergency sirens are going off.

Tip: To quickly turn Sound Recognition on or off, use Control Center.
