Notes app settings – Iphone

Allow Notes to Access

Password

You can Lock your notes from here using your iPhones passcode, a password, or Face ID.

“On My iPhone” Account

Turning this on will allow you to store notes on an account that is specifically on your iPhone and not in your iCloud. You can still keep notes on your iCloud and those notes won’t be affected.

Mention Notifications

You will receive Notifications when your name is mentioned in Shared Notes.

Viewing

Sort Notes By

You can organize your notes by either the Date Edited which is typically the default setting, Date Created, or by Title.

Group Notes by Date

As the title suggests these will group notes according to date.

New Notes Start With

As a default setting the first line in every note will be the Title so the font will be larger and in Bold. If you want to change the first line of each note your can choose between:

  • Title
  • Heading
  • Subheading
  • Body

Toggle between the four options to see which one suits you best.

Sort Checked Items

If you have a check list in your notes, each item that is checked off will be sent to the bottom of the list Automatically or Manually. Manually is typically the default setting.

Lines & Grids

You can change the lines and grid settings manually with each note or from settings you can automatically format every note with the same Lines or Grid formatting.

Note Backgrounds

You can change each individual notes background to Light or Dark manually, or you can set a default background for all notes from here.

App Links

Suggest App Link when Composing Quick Note

While you’re composing a quick note you will have the option to make the test into a link if your iPhone thinks you may want to make it into a link thats easily accessible. For example, if you type in an address you will be prompted to make it a link to maps.

Suggest Notes with App Links

You can keep this setting on when you’re creating a note with Quick Notes or you can toggle this setting Off if it’s more of an annoyance to you.

Tags

With Auto Convert to Tag on, each text you type with (#) will automatically be converted to a tag. For example, #iPhone, #iCloud, #Apple.

Media

With Save to Photos turned on, each photo taken or document scanned will automatically be saved to your Photos App.

Lock Screen & Control Center

By default this setting is Off but from the lock screen you can automatically Always Create New Note if you want a quick way to create notes often without accessing the app, or Resume Last Note if you want to quickly add content to an existing note that you last accessed.
