Allow Books To Access
Automatic Downloads
Purchases From Other Devices
If you have more than one device and you want to read your books or listen to audio books on multiple devices, you can turn on Purchases From Other Devices to automatically view books purchased on one device on another.
Cellular Data
Automatic Downloads
This setting will allow automatic downloads across all devices using Cellular Data, not just Wi-Fi.
Downloads
You will see a few options here to choose from when your phone intends to download books and audiobooks through cellular data:
- Always Allow
- Ask If Over 200 MB
- Always Ask
If you have a limited data plan, you may want to consider having your phone ask you before downloading books through cellular data.
Syncing
Update Other Devices
Having this on will allow you to sync your library on any devices listed here. You will need to have both your system software updated and the books app updated for this to work seamlessly.
Reading Now
When this is on, the books you’re currently reading will sync with your other devices through your iCloud Account.
iCloud Drive
When this is on you can use iCloud drive to sync PDFs to your book library.
Reading Menu Position
Here you can choose the positioning of your reading menu. You can choose either Left or Right.
Reading
Auto-Hyphenation
When this is on, your Books app will automatically hyphenate words when they break at the end of a line.
Both Margins Advanced
When this is on you can tap the left or the right margin while reading a book to advance to the next page.
Show Status Bar
When this is on you will still be able to see your status bar while reading a book. (The status bar is the bar at the top of your iPhone screen that shows the time, battery, Wi-Fi, Cellular Data bars etc.)
Reading Goals
Reading Goals
Your reading goals will show the time you’ve spent reading so you can track and set daily, weekly, and monthly reading goals for yourself.
Include PDFs
When this is on, any PDFs you’ve downloaded will also be tracked and included in your Reading Goals.
Clear Reading Goals Data
The time you’ve spent reading will be cleared the next time you open the book app. If you’ve spent and accumulated reading time you might want to avoid clearing this data. This cannot be undone.
Searching
Book Store
While you are searching for books or audio books in the Book Apps search bar, results from the book store will appear while this is on.
Audiobooks
While you are listening to audiobooks, you can skip forward or backwards for a set number of seconds. This can be helpful if you weren’t paying attention to what was being said or you simply just want to hear a part of the audiobook again. You can skip back to re-listen to a part of the book then skip forward again to get back to the part you were on. You can change the time that is skipped for:

You can use headphone and/or car controls to choose one of two options:

Online Content And Privacy
When you use these apps, Apple will accumulate information about you that is temporarily stored on servers using a unique identifier which does not tell who you are exactly but will collect other information about you such as purchases, browsing, searches, etc. within applications on your iPhone. They do not track you across other third party apps or websites and they collect this information temporarily to customize and personalize your experience to offer services, products, and content you may like. If you have personalized ads on they will collect more personal information which you can turn off Here. They also may track the approximate number of phone calls, emails, and messages your send and receive for the purpose of preventing fraud but will not track the content of these phone calls and messages unless you allow it.
Reset Access To Online Content
You can select to Reset Access To Online Content if you want to clear permissions for books to access publishers content from the internet.
Reset Identifier
This will reset the identifier that is used to report your app usage statistics to Apple.
