Facetime Settings

Allow FaceTime To Access

• Siri & Search
• Notifications
• Incoming Calls
  • You can choose between Banner (the incoming call will show only at the top of the screen) or Full Screen (the incoming call will show on the full screen) when you’re getting incoming calls
• Announce Calls
  • If you want your iPhone to announce calls you can have your phone Always announce calls, announce calls only with Headphones & Car, just Headphones, or Never.

FaceTime

If you want to be able to use FaceTime, this switch needs to be turned on. On the other hand, turn the switch off if you don’t want to make or receive FaceTime calls.

You Can Be Reached By FaceTime At

Generally you want to have your phone number checked off in Send & Receive so your FaceTime Calls to another iPhone will come from your phone number. If you only have your Apple ID email turned on then your FaceTime calls will only be sent and received from your Apple ID email. This will also happen if your iPhone doesn’t have service so other iPhone users won’t be able to receive FaceTime calls through your phone number if it’s not active with a mobile network provider but you can still use FaceTime with Wi-Fi and your Apple ID email. This is convenient because even if you have cellular network issues you can still contact people with FaceTime.

FaceTime with SharePlay

SharePlay is a way to stream videos and music with someone else over FaceTime. You can, for example, watch a show on Netflix together through FaceTime. Turn SharePlay on to use this feature.

Note: SharePlay will not work on services that require a subscription unless you are both subscribed to the service in question i.e. you must both have a Netflix account. You also must have iOS 15.1 or later installed on your iPhones.

Automatic Prominence

Speaking

With Speaking on, the tile of the person speaking will automatically become larger during group FaceTime calls.

Live Captions

Your iPhone will use on-device intelligence to automatically display captions in FaceTime. The accuracy of the captions may not be perfect so don’t rely on captions for emergency situations.

FaceTime Live Photos

When this is on you can take live photos (screenshots) during a FaceTime call.

Eye contact

When this is on, both people on a FaceTime call will be looking directly at each other. Rather that looking at the screen instead of the camera where you can tell they are looking at the screen.

Calls

Here you can see blocked phone numbers and contacts. To remove numbers from your blocked call list click Edit in the top right corner and remove contacts you don’t want to have blocked. Or scroll down and click on Add New to add a phone number to your blocked contacts list.
