Voice Access Settings
Help
If you need help with Voice Access, you will have the following options.
Voice Access Commands
If you are new to Voice Access, want to learn more or just need a refresher, you will see the following options in this tab to help you with your Voice Access needs:

Basics and Navigation
- From this tab you will see a list of basic commands you can use with Voice Access.

Gestures
- From this tab you will be able to see a list of touch gestures and swipe gestures that will help you navigate your Pixel.

Grid Selection
- From this tab you can see voice commands that will pull up a grid (this will look like a bunch of boxes on your Pixel screen) so you can interact with different parts of your phone screen by using your voice.

Text Editing
- From this tab you will see a list of commands that will help you with typing and editing text with your voice.

Magnification
- From this tab you will see a list of voice commands that you can use to activate and utilize the magnification feature on your Pixel to help you see portions of your phone screen better.

From here you can view an entire resource guide on how Voice Access works along with written tutorials on how to use this feature.
Open Tutorial
This Voice Access tutorial will take you through written instructions that teach you how to use Voice Access and you can also choose options at the bottom of the page to adjust your preferences while using Voice Access.

If you opt in to sign up on this page you will receive tips through email that will help to better your experience with the Voice Access feature and you will receive surveys periodically that will help other people with their Voice Access experience as well.
Voice Command Preferences
Require Verbs
When this is on, a verb (voiced action) will be required to use voice access commands such as “Tap” or “Open”.
Time Out After No Speech
When this is turned on, Voice Access will timeout after 30 seconds if no speech is detected.
Activation
Activation Button
This will display a button to quickly start Voice Access from any screen that you’re on.
Listening Behavior On Screen Wake Up
You will be given three options to choose from for how your phone will respond in regards to voice access as soon as your phone wakes up (when the screen turns on after it has been off).

Always Start Listening
- When this is on, your phone will start listening for your voice commands as soon as your phone wakes up.

Start Listening Unless Previously Asked To Stop
- Your phone will start listening for your commands as soon as the screen wakes up unless you have audibly commanded your phone to not start listening as soon as it wakes up.

Never Start Listening
- You’re phone will not start listening for your commands automatically when it wakes up. You will have to manually activate Voice Access either through a voice command or by manually turning this feature on in settings or with a voice access shortcut.
Activate For Incoming Calls
When this is on, Voice Access will automatically activate when you’re getting an incoming call so you can audibly accept or deny the phone call.
Active During Calls
When this is on, Voice Access will be active during phone calls. This will allow you to navigate through your phone with your voice while you’re on a call.
Setup
Set Up Voice Access
From here you can begin the set up for Voice Access. You must first turn on Voice Access to proceed with the set up.
Configure Activation Key
To set up an activation key you must first have a keyboard or some other bluetooth switch that allows you to activate Voice Access. Once your bluetooth switch or keyboard device is set up, press the key or switch you want to use to activate Voice Access to set it up.
Activation Key Behavior
From her you can choose how you’d like to use your key or switch. The default setting is to tap to start Voice Access, then tap again to stop. You can also choose to press and hold to start Voice Access, then release to stop.
Recognize Common Icons
When this setting is on, and you say “Show labels,” you’ll see labels with the names of common icons, such as the Back button.
Privacy Policy
You can check the privacy to see how your information and analytics taken from your phone is being used.
