Light and Dark Mode

To change the display settings to light or dark mode go to Settings > Display and choose whether you want your phone to be in light or dark mode. The blue icon indicates which one is currently activated but you will also know if the background is white or black in the settings.

Dark Mode Settings

If you would like dark mode to turn on at a scheduled time, go to settings > Display > Dark mode settings and Switch on Turn on as Scheduled. Then you can:

  • Set Dark Mode to turn on between Sunset and Sunrise.
  • Set a Custom Schedule for when you would like it to turn on.

Brightness

From Settings, tap Display. Adjust the slider until you reach your desired brightness.

Adaptive Brightness

You can also turn Adaptive brightness on or off – this feature will automatically adjust your phone’s brightness depending if you’re in a bright or dark environment. Tap the switch next to Adaptive brightness to turn it on or off.

Note: You can also control screen brightness from the Quick settings panel. Swipe down from the top of the screen, and then adjust the slider at the bottom of the panel.

Motion Smoothness

The motion smoothness setting enhances your screens refresh rate. A high refresh rate allows for a smoother transition when navigating your phones interface. Choose Adaptive (or High on some models/software versions) or Standard for half the refresh rate.

Note: A higher refresh rate equates to less battery life and the adaptive setting is disabled when your phone has the power saving feature on.

Eye Comfort Shield

The eye comfort shield feature allows you t keep your eyes comfortable by limiting blue light and using warm colors on your phone. Enabling this feature at night can also make it easier to fall asleep.

  • Adaptive: Based on the time of day your phone will alter the lighting.
  • Custom: You can set a preferred brightness that works for you at all times or on a specific schedule.

Screen Mode

Screen mode allows you to adjust the warmness of the colors on your phone to your liking.

From Settings, tap Display, and then tap Screen mode. Next, choose your desired screen mode. Keep in mind that some screen modes may not be available unless the Blue light filter is turned off.

Note: Depending on the phone model, the screen modes may vary or be unavailable.

Font Size and Style

From Settings, tap Display. To change the font size and style, tap Font size and style, and then adjust the options as desired. From here you can:

  • Change the font style to your liking and download additional font styles if one you like isn’t preinstalled on the phone.
  • Make the font bold.
  • Adjust the size of the font to your liking.

Screen Zoom

If you need to make the items on your screen appear larger, like when you’re reading or if you have a vision impairment, you can use Screen zoom.

From Settings, tap Display. Swipe to and tap Screen zoom, and then adjust the slider at the bottom.

On your Z Fold phone, tap Screen layout and zoom instead, and then adjust the slider at the bottom. You can also select from Multi view or Standard view at the top. Multi view will split the screen for certain apps, such as Settings.

Screen Timeout

If you’re phone is going dark too soon or not soon enough you can adjust the screen timeout between 15 seconds and 10 minutes.

Easy Mode

If you’d like some assistance with using your Home screen, you can turn on Easy mode. It will enlarge the on-screen items, provide a high contrast keyboard, and help prevent accidental touches when tapping.

From Settings, tap Display, and then tap Easy mode. Tap the switch to turn it on.

Edge Panels

You can quickly access your favorite applications, features, and contacts from Edge panels.

Panels

There are a few preinstalled Edge panels you can use to quickly open up your frequently used apps, message your favorite contacts, check the weather, and more! You can add or remove these panels based on which ones you like the most.

  1. To open up the menu, swipe left on the Edge panel handle; it’s a gray tab on the right side of the screen.

  2. Then, tap the Settings icon (it looks like a gear) located to the left of the panel.

  3. Select or deselect the edge panel you want to add or remove. You can select up to ten Edge panels.

  4. You can also download additional panels. Please see the next section for more details.

Handle

The Edge panel handle is so transparent, you can barely see it on the side of your phone’s screen. If you don’t like this, you can customize the handle’s position, size, color, and transparency to fit your needs.

Swipe left on the Edge panel handle to open up the menu, and then tap the Settings icon (it looks like a gear) located to the left of the panel. Tap Back at the top of the screen, tap Handle, and then customize the settings as desired.

Navigation Bar

From here, choose between Navigation buttons and Swipe gestures.

You can use gestures instead of buttons to navigate your phone if that’s simpler, or if you just want to remove the buttons from your screen for a less cluttered appearance.

You can also adjust the order of the buttons on the Navigation bar.

Accidental Touch Protection

Since you probably keep your phone in your pocket or bag most of the time, you should turn on Accidental touch protection. This will prevent any accidental screen touches while your phone’s stashed away.

From Settings, search for and select Accidental touch protection. Tap the switch next to Accidental touch protection to turn this feature on. Now you can have peace of mind throughout the day.

If you are in a particularly dark place and need to use your phone, just swipe the lock icon to the left or right to dismiss Accidental touch protection.

Touch Sensitivity

You may want to turn touch sensitivity on if you have a screen protector or a light touch. Go to Settings > Display > and turn on (or off) touch sensitivity as needed.

Show Charging Information

This will show the percentage of your current battery level and an estimated time until your battery is full.

Note: The estimated time frame may change depending on the wattage of the charger you’re using.

Screen Saver

This shows a screensaver after your Galaxy phone or tablet screen turns off automatically while your phone is charging. From here you can choose a screen saver color or choose photos that you’d like to appear when your phone is asleep.
