Health – iPhone

With the Health app on iPhone you can monitor your health and organize it in a secure place. The Health app can track workouts, sleep and more. 

Note: Health tracking is significantly more accurate if you have an Apple Watch.

Summary

From the Summary tab, you can view all of your health data such as Steps, Trends, Headphone Audio Levels, Active Energy, Calories, and more.

To access the following information, go to the summary tab at the bottom left hand corner of the screen then click on your profile in the top right to see a list of these options.

Set up your Health Profile

To access the following information, go to the summary tab at the bottom left hand corner of the screen then click on your profile in the top right to see a list of these options.

To set up your Health profile:

  • Click the Summary tab at the bottom left hand corner of the app screen.
  • Then click on your profile (your picture) at the top right hand corner of the screen. If you don’t have a profile or picture that’s fine you can set it up later.
  • Then select Health Details at the top and click on Edit.
  • Now fill out your health information and click Done.

Medical ID

Setting up your Medical ID is useful in emergency situations. First responders will be able to see this information even if your iPhone is locked. To set up your Medical ID:

  • Click on the Summary tab in the bottom left corner of the app screen.
  • Go to your profile in the top right hand corner.
  • Then select Medical ID from the list and click Get Started.
  • From here, input your name, medical conditions, notes, allergies, medications, blood type, organ donor, weight, height, and any other important medical information.
  • You can also add emergency contacts and you can share your Medical ID when you call emergency services by turning on Share During Emergency Call at the bottom of the screen.
  • You can also turn on Show When Locked so in situations where you may be unconscious, first responders can see your Medical ID information.

In the health checklist, you can view and set up all necessary health related information such as:

Health Records

You can keep health records on your iPhone from different hospitals by:

  • Clicking on Health Records then Get Started.
  • Now choose and/or search for a hospital.
  • Then select Connect Account and sign in to your hospitals website with your credentials.

Notifications

You can get Healths specific notifications from your Health App such as:

Trends

Whenever there’s a new trend in your health data your iPhone will send you a notification.

New Health Records

You will receive a notification when new health records such as a lab result or new medications are downloaded from one of your connected accounts.

Sleep

You can ‘get sleep reminder notifications and sleep results from your iPhones sleep data. You can also manage sleep with your Apple Watch by configuring those settings in your Apple Watch app.

Walking Steadiness Notifications

Your iPhone will track the steadiness of how you walk over a period of time and let you know if you’re at an elevated risk of falling within the next 12 months.

Organ Donation

Click on Organ Donation to sign up to be an organ donor. Click on Sign up with Donate Life and follow the on screen instructions to sign up.

Privacy

Apps

Apps will request permission to access your health data for various reasons. As the apps you’re using request to access health data those apps will be added to the list here. You can view, edit or remove any data that these apps have. You can also uninstall these apps and deny permission.

Research Studies

You can be apart of research studies that will track your health data and you can view the research studies you’re a part of here. Research studies will be added to this list as they request to access your health data and you approve their access.

Devices

All devices that have access to your health data that share your Apple ID will appear here.

Note: Make sure that you recognize all devices on this list. If you do not, it is recommended that you remove them as it could be that someone else is logged into your Apple ID on a device that doesn’t belong to you.

Export All Health Data

Click on this link to share your health data. This may be convenient if you want to send your health data to your doctor or for any research purposes.

Sharing

To access sharing features, open the Health app and click on the Sharing tab at the bottom of the app screen.

Share with Someone

  • Click on Share with Someone then search for a contact to share with.

Note: You cannot share health data from iPhone to android through the app. If your contact supports health sharing, the contact will be blue, if the contact is grey, they don’t have a device that supports health sharing.

  • Once you’ve selected a contact select See Suggested Topics or Set Up Manually.
  • Now select the data you want to share.
  • Click on Share to share your health data.
  • Then click on Done.

Ask Someone to Share

  • Underneath Share with Someone, you will see Ask Someone to Share.
  • Then choose a contact to request health data from.
  • Click send when you’ve chosen a contact and they will receive a request.

Share with Your Doctor

  • Click on Share with your doctor from the sharing tab.
  • Then select search for your doctors office/hospital/location.
  • Enter your credentials then follow the instructions from your doctor or institution.

Browse

To browse your health data:

  • Open the Health App and click on the Browse tab in the bottom right corner of the app screen.
  • Then either search for the health data you want to view in the search bar or scroll through the list below.
